The Honorable Virginia "Jinny" Johnson, age 83, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2012. She was the wife of the late Theodore William Johnson, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage.

Raised in Haddonfield, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Lillian Weest.

Jinny graduated from Boston University in 1950. She taught for 10 years in the Wilmington and New Castle County schools. She was a magistrate for the Justice of the Peace Courts in Delaware from 1978-1994.

Jinny was an active member of the League of Women Voters, the New Castle Sailing Club, and president of the Home and School Association. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed vacationing in Vermont.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Cynthia Dufour (Thomas), Christina Mantyla, Eric Johnson (Margaret Cox), Nancy Michalsky (Mark), Gail Whalen (Chris), and Karen Sekcienski (James); sisters, Miriam Scott and Elizabeth Bleakley; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Jinny was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Fox.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 11:00-12:00 at BEESON FUNERAL HOME, 2053 Pulaski Hwy, Newark, DE, 19702. Her service will follow at 12:00. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to American Heart Association, PO Box 163549, Columbus, OH 43216-3549.
